Personalised Footwear advice

Podiatrists are experts in feet and therefore are the only qualified professional to provide healthcare standard footwear advice.
As part of your treatment at Footfocus we always provide evidence based advice and recommendations on how to choose footwear to prevent future problems.

Everyone has a theory on what the best running shoes are to help create a cushioned and controlled foot. Even though we know that the feet need to have support to feel comfortable — it’s definitely not a one-size-fits-all approach.

We know that each and every one of us has a host of factors that influence our feet, how we move and our lifestyles. That’s why we apply our passion, knowledge and extensive experience to find a shoe that’s comfortable, for you.

Because we — and our feet — are all different, the guidance and recommendations we give are too. Our process, however, starts the same to ensure the highest levels of accuracy and effectiveness. We want to make sure we help you pick a shoe that is going to give you maximum comfort.

Here at Footfocus Podiatry, we:

  • Assess your foot structure
  • Observe how your fit sits when you are engaging in an activity, such as walking or running
  • Perform gait analysis to include video tools to provide a more in-depth look at how your feet and your body move when walking or running
  • Provide custom-made orthotics to support your exact foot shape

Personalised footwear tips.

When it comes to running shoes, we should aim to change our shoes every estimated 300-500 miles. However, the exact number of miles running shoes will last depends entirely on your individual movement patterns, mobility and surface.

Advice on appropriate footwear:

  • Wear the correct size for your feet shape. Footwear should offer enough width for your foot type and have approximately 1cm of room available from the end of the shoes
  • Check that your footwear feels comfortable
  • Wear the correct type of shoe for the correct sport or activity you are taking part in

Here at Footfocus Podiatry, we can help you:

  • Understand your foot shape
  • Know which shoe will create maximum comfort
  • Select footwear for specific sports
